Sailing
New Zealand's maritime reserves combined with its pristine coastal waters make for a delightful holiday on the water. Sailing is an extraordinary way to discover New Zealand and gives a unique offshore perspective.
Auckland is known as the City of Sails and has the world's largest number of boats per head of population. The maritime reserves of the Hauraki Gulf, Bay of islands and Marlborough Sounds are among the best areas for a holiday on the water.
There are both bare boating and chartered options available through the bays, inlets, sounds and fiords of New Zealand. Bare boating gives you independence on the vessel of your choice, and a skippered charter means you'll be guided by an experienced sailor. If you are an experience sailor yourself, you will find some challenging off-shore waters in this part of the Pacific.
