Treks and Walks

walks in New ZealandOver 30% of New Zealand is officially National Parks and reserves, so there is never a shortage of walking and hiking opportunities. Ranging in length from the short walks of up to a day long, to the extended multi-day tracks, you will always enjoy the closeness of New Zealand nature. Walks are found everywhere, from the city greenbelts to the remote high country.

Some of the tracks in the South Island such as Milford Track and Routeburn Track are open only from late October through to Late April and are restricted by the winter weather. However most tracks can be walked year round. The multi-day tracks offer guided walks with all cooking and accommodation provided in communal huts. These huts have the luxury of bunks, water and often cooking facilities. The alternative is to sleep out in a tent.
