Wineries
There are host of wineries spread through out New Zealand which allow wine connoisseur to enjoy a number of wine trails. The main regions are:
Auckland and Waiheke Island ..... there are a number of vineyards in the Auckland region including more than 30 wineries on Waiheke Island, making it an ideal place to spend a few days to sample some of their award winning wines.
Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa ..... These two regions produce an exceptional variety of wines from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to the Merlot, and offer a number of gourmet delights.
Marlborough ..... this is the biggest wine growing region in New Zealand drawing international recognition through wineries like Montana and Cloudy Bay. There are over 60 wineries that produce over half New Zealands' total wine production.
Northland ..... it is only recently that wine making has developed in Northland despite the fact it was here the first settlers developed vineyards and made the first wine. The wines they produce are characterised by their fruity and spicy flavours.
