Artisan markets
Every Saturday morning in Nelson, local fresh produce, wooden platters, colourful ceramics etc. Further afield, Motueka hosts a relaxed Sunday market, and Takaka has a Saturday market.

The marker at the "Centre of New Zealand" ..... The geographical "Centre of New Zealand" allegedly lies in Nelson on a hilltop near the centre of the city.

Abel Tasman National Park ..... This world treasure National Park with turquoise sea, golden beaches and native forest can be explored by cruising, kayaking, bush and beach walking or just relax at one of the lovely accommodation lodges in the area. Guided tours available from Nelson.  This park includes one of the Great Walks of New Zealand the Abel Tasman Coast Track.

Ernest Rutherford ..... Brightwater, near Nelson is the birthplace of Lord Rutherford, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist whose image appears on New Zealand's $100 banknote, the largest denomination in circulation in New Zealand.
