Region

The City of Rotorua is centrally located in terms of attractions in its surrounding Region. Within a 2 hours drive are the surf beaches of Mount Maunganui, the National Parks of Tongariro (Mt. Ruapehu) and Urewera, Lake Taupo, Waitomo Caves and Huka Falls. This Region urban centres include Hamilton, Tauranga, Taupo, Gisborn, Napier and Hastings.

Rotorua
Most attractions in Rotorua are based around its greatest assets - geothermal features, mineral baths and the lakes, which is a hub for recreational activities. Around Rotorua, you will see erupting geysers, be amazed by the bubbling pools of mud and most incredible colors created by natures own earth forces. 

This is the heartland of the spiritual home to the Maori and host fascinating Maori cultural experiences.

Taupo
Further south Lake Taupo is located in the center of the North Island and is reportedly the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. The Lake is known to offer some of the best angling in the world for Brown and Rainbow Trout. The Lake shore comprises of native bush, the largest pine forests in the southern hemisphere and spectacular mountains.

Water sport activities include boats of every kind are available for charter. You can also tandem sky dive or bungy jump with the mighty Waikato River 45 m below. Enjoy a awesome adventure scenic jet boating right up to the foot of thundering Huka Falls where 300,000 litres of water hurtle through this narrow chasm every second.

Mt Ruapehu
Looking south from Lake Taupo is one of the world's most spectacular live volcano Mount Ruapehu and the Tongariro National Park. During the summer months guided walks to the Crater lake are available. During the winter months, Mount Ruapehu and Whakapapa ski fields are the largest ski area in New Zealand. When Mount Ruapehu erupted in 1996, it put on a spectacular fireworks display that made world news. Today the mountain is quiet and thousands of skiers and snow boarders now enjoy their winter sports.

 

Gisborne
The East Coast of the North Island hosts the first city at178E. in the world to see the sunrise each morning - Gisborne. is the home of fine wines and great surf! 

Captain Cook Landing Site is at the National Historic Reserve Kaiti Beach This marks the place where Captain James Cook first set foot here in October, 1769. A European settlement was established in 1831. 

Napier
Take a trip back in time, Napier city has retained the Art Deco style of the 1920's and 30's and is the site of some of the finest examples of authentic Art Deco in the world. The Museum and Art Gallery have a permanent exhibition of Art Deco. Burtie, Ambassador for Napier will provide you with a nostalgic tour. Other attractions include Marineland of New Zealand, Cape Kidnappers and vineyards with award winning wines. The climate allows for excellent fruit growing of all kinds.

Hastings
The city of Hastings is located 25km south of Napier. Mild weather and a sunny climate make the surrounding plains ideal for producing fruit, vegetables, and wines of the highest quality.
Hastings is a showcase for fine examples of Spanish Mission-style architecture, largely built after the 1931 Hawkes Bay earthquake.
