Whakapapa - Mt Ruapehu
This is New Zealands biggest and busiest ski area, covering 400ha, of skiable area with 43 runs that provide for a variety of skill levels.

Turoa- Mt Ruapehu
Close to Ohakune this ski area offers the perfect playground for skiers and snow boarders of all skills and ages, with one of the largest vertical drops in Australasia, natural half pipes and challenging runs and plenty of dry snow through the season.

Tukino- Mt Ruapehu
On the south side of Ruapehu this area has a lack crowds and is open to skiers, boarders and alpine climbers, while offering a friendly atmosphere and place for the adventurous.

 


Maunganui  - Mt Taranaki
This area is on the slopes of Mt Taranaki that offers gentle skiing on the lower slopes and something more extreme for the fearless skiers and boarders as you head further up the mountain. 

 


Hamner Springs - North Canterbury
The ski area is a small field suited for intermediate and advanced skiers that want to get away from the busy commercial ski fields.  It is just 40 minutes from Hamner Springs giving you an opportunity to head there to enjoy the thermal reserve after a days skiing or snow boarding.

Temple Basin - North Canterbury
Temple Basin is at the heart of Arthurs Pass, covering a wide variety of terrain on four different basins giving space for the beginners as well as the adreniline junkies and more experienced skiers.

Craigieburn - North Canterbury
The Valley Ski Area, is in the heart of the Southern Alps and offers wide open powder bowls, steep narrow chutes and varied terrain including the 600m vertical descent of Middle basin.

Broken River - North Canterbury
Having three basins, five tows and no crowds Broken River is a great place for skiers and snowboarders who want to get back to basics and have excellent terrain.

Mt Cheeseman - North Canterbury
Located in the Arthurs Pass area Cheeseman has a bowl with both groomed and ungroomed piste including a learners area.  It is topped by Mt Cockayne and Powder Valley, offering plenty of piste steeps.

Kaikoura Helicopters -  offers some of New Zealand's most breathtaking experiences.  In just a few minutes you'll be out in the whale watching area, or flying around some of New Zealand's highest mountains. Available for private charter, hunting, fishing, filming, Heli-skiing, climbers. 


Porter Heights - Close to Christchurch

Porter Heights is one giant terrain park! With have tons of hits and bumps, and wide open pistes for carving too! 
Porter Heights is the closest ski are to Christchurch, only 96km from Christchurch International Airport.
The lifts run up to valleys and take you to two faces, Big Mamma and Bluff face which has one of the largest vertical drops in New Zealand.  Big Mama with 620 vertical metres and is longest and steepest straight run down in the Southern Hemisphere. There is daily transport from Christchurch and Greymouth

Mt Hutt - Close to Christchurch
The Mt Hutt ski area is nestled high on the eastern rim of the Southern Alps it gives the skiers and snowboarders a spectacular view of the Canterbury Plains and Pacific Ocean and boasts one of the longest seasons in the Southern Hemisphere.  Just one hours drive from Christchurch and a stones throw from Methven, Mt Hutts village, the ski area includes plenty of Black Diamond runs for extreme skiers and boarders as well as wide open terrain for first timers and families.

Mt Olympus - Close to Christchurch
The Olympus ski fields are off the beaten track, having low skier numbers, 
often allowing for trackless runs and open terrain.

Mt Potts - Close to Christchurch
Dubbed the new Spot X by a visiting La Grave guide, Mt.Potts is New Zealand's only heli accessed snowcat skiing experience. Join a group of no more than fourteen guests skiing the steeps, powder, chutes and basins of Mt.Potts. Mt.Potts is the highest ski area in the South Island and captures most of its snow from the reliable Nor'West. Mt.Potts is only one hour's drive from Methven in Canterbury.

Mt Dobson is a friendly family owned ski area on the main Christchurch Queenstown highway.  They have areas suitable for the families and beginners as well as challenging runs for the experienced skiers and snowboarders. Kids have a great time on the HUGE learner's slope 

Roundhill- South Canterbury
The Roundhill slopes are situated in the heart of the MacKenzie country overlooking Lake Tekapo and the MacKenzie basin.  This area is perfect for beginners and those who want a relaxing days skiing with it's wide gentle slopes.

 

Ohau- South Canterbury
This ski field is a great half way point between Christchurch and Queenstown.  It has a variety of terrain including wide open intermediate slopes, extreme shutes and a beginners area.

Saddle Basin, Treble ConeTreble Cone - Wanaka Region
This ski area has more ski-able terrain than any other in the South Island and covers 550 hectares as well as offering phenomenal views of Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring.  Not only does it offer some of the most exhilerating runs in the country, it is also renowned for an abundance of dry powder and has reliable snow conditions.  Treble Cone has trails for all ages and skill levels as well as terrain parks and natural and man made half pipes and terrain parks that makes it a popular place for snowboarders. 

Cardrona - Wanaka Region
The Cardrona Alpine Resort is located in the Cardrona Valley between Wanaka and Queenstown in New Zealands Southern Alps.  It is known for its dry snow and wide slopes and steep chutes. 

 
 Waiorau Snow Farm - Wanaka Region
The Snow Farm  is a commercial cross-country ski area located in the Cardrona Valley.  It has trails that are groomed to an international standard as well as offering ski hire and accommodation for those who aren't day visitors.

Snow Park - Wanaka Region
Located in the Cardrona Valley Wanaka this is New Zealands first all-mountain freestyle Terrain Park.  the park prides itself on it's innovation, diversity and getting the rider out there to have fun.  They cater for this with New Zealand's first super pipe, half pipes, a rail park and an extensive terrain park.

Coronet Peak - Queenstown Region
Just 25 minutes from Queenstown, Coronet Peak is Queenstown origianl skifield.  It has an international flavour and is renowned for some of the best terrain in Australasia because of its wide rolling variety or terrain.  It hosts the Queenstown Winter Festival and endurance races.  Unique to Coronet peak is it's night skiing which takes place from July to September every Friday and Saturday evening.  It also offers a Fun Zone demo centre and award winning ski and snowboard school to hone your skills while out on the slopes.

 

The Remarkables - Queenstown Region
This alpine ski area near Queenstown with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, has place for the novice as well as the adrenaline junkies and intermediate skiers. 

This varied field provides gentle runs for beginners through to challenging chutes for more experienced skiers and snowboarders.  Facilities for children include Skiwiland, tubing park, and a creche.
